With 50 per cent of schools globally, lacking internet access and 31 per cent without electricity, the dreams of millions of children are stifled.

To help bridge this gap, we sent Unit 003 Classroom-in-a-Box™ to Mind the Gap Africa’s Harvest Family Village, an orphanage located just outside Bulawayo. Founded in 2006 by Jenny Hensman, their mission is to rescue and restore orphaned and vulnerable children and young people by providing them with a safe and nurturing environment.

Due to the Harvest Family Village being on a remote section of land with limited access to internet and electricity, we knew our kit could make a life-changing difference. Our portable, solar-powered, offline learning kit that works without electricity or internet, giving the children and young people of the village access to learning material which will allow them to tap into their full potential.

Through our partnership with Mind the Gap Africa, we’ve improved the learning experience for the children at Harvest Family Village, providing them with a fun, engaging way to continue their education despite the challenges they face.

Henry from Mind the Gap Orphanage, Zimbabwe, said: “This is an amazing tool to bring education and leisure to children and adults in difficult locations with adverse challenges like power in our case.  We have unreliable power sources of electricity and yet unlimited source of Solar.  With this kit, we will be able to teach children utilising diverse options like cartoons, songs, lectures etc. Especially fun ways of learning for the little ones……but also to have leisure days for children and adults to watch family type movies occasionally.”

Our Classroom-in-a-Box™ includes:

      • Solar panel – 110W foldable, waterproof solar panel which is lightweight, foldable and perfect for off-grid locations.
      • Battery – rechargeable lithium-ion battery, ideal for harsh conditions.
      • Projector – compact and light LED projector.
      • ‘The Brains’ – which is where all of the offline learning is stored.
      • Navigation – this includes a keyboard and mouse for the brains.
      • Projector screen – 100” wall mountable projector screen.
      • Carry case – durable, waterproof carry case for harsh climates.

We want to say a huge thank you to Jenny, Henry and the team at Mind the Gap, as well as Mike our shipping guy and Evolution Forwarding for their incredible logistical work and getting our Classroom-in-a-Box™ to Harvest Family Village.
