#TechforGood UK Charity launches innovative educational projector with key support by design pioneer Herman Miller
Herman Miller, a furniture designer now part of the MillerKnoll collective, is supporting educational charity Global Teacher in unveiling the world’s first low cost, 3D printed, solar-powered projector.
The projector, known as ‘Pod’, will give students in rural communities in developing countries access to digital education without needing internet or mains power.
Drawing inspiration from Herman Miller’s problem-solving designs, plus its dedication to sustainability and equitable access to education; Chris Nutman and his team approached the organisations corporate giving arm.
Access to digital education is difficult for many in the developing world with 50% of the global schools not having internet coverage and 34% having no electricity. Global Teacher is committed to making digital education accessible to all.
The Pod is a low-cost, durable solar-powered projector that is sustainably powered and uses a bespoke offline learning platform.
